The summary page of an insurance policy listing coverage details, premiums, and policyholder information.

What is Declarations Page?

The declarations page, often called the dec page or dec sheet, is the first section of an insurance policy and serves as a concise summary of the coverage purchased. It typically lists the policyholder's name and address, the policy number and effective dates, the named insured and additional insureds, property or vehicles covered, coverage types and limits, deductibles, premium amounts, and the name of the insurance company and agent. The declarations page is the most commonly referenced section during claims, audits, and contract reviews, and is often required as proof of insurance.

Example

Example

A landlord asks a new tenant to provide proof of renters insurance before move-in. The tenant submits the declarations page of their renters policy, which shows $30,000 in personal property coverage, $100,000 in liability protection, a $500 deductible, and an annual premium of $180 — satisfying the lease requirement without sharing the full policy document.
